National Street Rod Association (NSRA) vehicle safety is a cornerstone of the Rod and Wheelers club. The club has certified inspectors qualified to conduct safety inspections as defined by the NSRA.The club is proud to partner with the NSRA and encourages all street rodders becoming a member of the NSRA. Information below is for your information only. These guidelines are copied from NSRA form #101. All questions should be directed to NSRA and not the Rod and Wheelers club. For the official NSRA guide lines click on this link: http://www.streetrod101.com/safety-inspection.html
Safety Inspections as outlined by NSRA
The safety of your street rod is of vital importance. If the street rod does not meet a certain set of guidelines, an accident can cause more than just replacing the parts. The NSRA is the organization responsible for establishing the guide lines and the standards used to train and certify inspectors. Street Rodders are encouraged to have their cars inspected by a certified inspector. Keep in mind safety inspections are completely voluntary. In most cases, safety inspections can be carried out at many of the street rod shows around the country. Generally, annual safety inspections are recommended. The following is a list of safety inspection guidelines Street Rodders should be aware of.

10. Throttle Linkage: Must not travel past center on linkage and a return spring is required.
11. Fuel System: Must have a vent on trunk and interior mounted tanks. Also, no clear, plastic lines allowed and no leaks.
12. Exhaust System: No leaks permitted and exhaust output must pass rear edge of front door and exit exhaust away from vehicle.
13. Self-Aligning Rod End Bearings: No fractures, insert sloppiness or binding.
14. Shock Absorbers: There should be one per wheel, no leaks, and sufficient travel (2 inches) in each direction.
15. Brakes: There must be hydraulic brakes on all four wheels, no leaks, sufficient brake pedal travel, no copper tubing, and sufficient length of flexible tubing to allow for suspension movement and turning.
16. Scrub Lines: There should be no steering, suspension or chassis components below the scrub line.
